Funeral service for Sarah Ann Evans, 80, will be Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Pope officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Oct. 1, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.

Sarah Ann Evans was born on Bethel Road in Hartselle, Alabama and lived there most of her life. She passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. She graduated from Morgan County High School where she was a majorette, homecoming queen, and the Madison County Maid of Cotton. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University then later received her Master’s degree in Education. She married her childhood sweetheart from 4th grade and they were married for 57 years. She devoted over 30 years to educating children and mentoring other teachers. She was devoted to her family, church and community. Her life was spent being selfless and loving unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Cline Thompson and Kathryn Isley Thompson; a brother, Joe Thompson and his wife, Betty Crow Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, William H. “Bill” Evans Jr.; children, Julia Evans Martz, (Garrett), William H. Evans III, David Wesley Evans, (Missy), and Mariann Evans Parker, (Shannon); siblings, Carol Thompson Lewis, (Dick) and Glenn Edward Thompson, (Wanda); 11 grandchildren, Blake Andrew Martz, Sarah Katelyn Martz, Matthew Evan Martz, Hannah Caroline Martz, Austin Parker, Addison Parker, Mary Kathryn Evans, Nathan Evans, Sadie Evans, Millie Evans, and Wesley Evans; and one great-grand child, Maddox Martz.

Pallbearers will be grand sons, Blake Martz, Matthew Martz, Austin Parker, Nathan Evans, Addison Parker, Wesley Evans, Grant Johnson, and nephews, Richard Lewis and Cline Thompson.
