Ruth Ellen Davis Glasscock, 89, of Jackson, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment will be held at 4 p.m. at Bethel Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartselle, Alabama following the funeral service.
Mrs. Glasscock was born on Jan. 5, 1928 in Mt. Hebron, Alabama to the late James Clyde and Nettie Lee Tolleson Davis.
She attended school at Snead College, Jacksonville State University, and Athens College, and was a school teacher in both Alabama and Tennessee for over 32 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and attended the Cullen-Simmons Sunday school class. Mrs. Glasscock was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Gregory Glasscock; and sister, Mara Lynn Robinson .
She is survived by her brother, T.K. Davis, of Crossville, Alabama; daughter, Debbie Glasscock Milton, of Belden, Mississippi; her son, Dr. Stephen Gregory Glasscock, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
A visitation with the family will be conducted today, Oct. 1, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A Smith and Sons.
