Sara “Ginger” Jean McNay, age 71, of Smyrna, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2022. A native of Miami, FL she was the daughter of the late John Hoyt and Sara Margaret Lindley Beddingfield. She was raised in Ocala. She developed her life long love of animals from an early age. She had many fur babies throughout her life, from Buddy, her first Boxer, and King, her horse. When she moved to Tennessee in the 1970’s, her animal loves became dogs and cats. She never was very long without a special fur baby or two or three in her life. Another love of her life was the arts including music and poetry. She enjoyed singing, writing poetry or playing musical instruments, French Horn, Piano or Organ. Ginger attended Georgia Southern majoring in music. Ginger became in a piano tuner in the 1970’s when she moved to Nashville. She was one of only 30 female piano tuners in the country at that time. Ginger moved from piano tuning to the more traditional careers in the food service as a CFO and medical arena as an accounting clerk. Prior to her retirement in 2020, she spent 14 years at the Murfreesboro Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Ginger found a wonderful work family during this period. Special cohorts were Mark Galinat and Jim Steed who with Ginger formed the three amigos.
Ginger is survived by her brother, John Beddingfield and his wife Olga; nephew, John Henry Beddingfield and his wife Jackie; and great niece, Josephine. She has extended family of many loving cousins and a bevy of friends by whom she will be
missed. She was considered a member of her sister-in-law who will miss her love of life.
Given Ms. McNay life-long love of animals, in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her name to Rutherford County Pet Adoption & Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.) or animal rescue organization of your choice
Mrs. McNay was of the Methodist belief.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
