Master Sergeant Sandra O. McDowell Bolander, 53, Lompoc, California, while visiting family and friends in Russellville, passed from this life in her sleep Friday, May 27, 2016.
She was a 1981 graduate of Russellville High School and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland. She served in the USAF with overseas tours in Germany, England and Australia and domestic assignments in Nebraska, Florida and California. She was deployed to the Middle East in conjunction with the Gulf War.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 33 years, Brian Bolander; daughter, Annika Bolander, both of Lompoc, California; mother, Nancy McDowell Morris; stepfather, Tommy Morris; sister, Dorthy McDowell Patrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father, James McDowell; and brother, James McDowell, Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 1:15 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.
