Mr. Samuel Willard Moffitt, age 83, of Lexington, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Born on February 8, 1943, in Wildersville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jess Willard Moffitt and Lillie Ruth Murren Moffitt. At a young age, Samuel left school to help his mother care for his younger siblings, demonstrating the selflessness, dedication, and strong work ethic that would define his entire life.
Known as a true jack-of-all-trades, Samuel could fix just about anything and was an exceptional mechanic. His remarkable memory amazed everyone who knew him, and he was known for being able to recall details and quote Scripture with ease. A devoted Christian, he loved the Lord and often shared Bible verses and words of encouragement with those around him.
Samuel never met a stranger. He loved to talk, had friends everywhere he went, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He especially loved children and was a wonderful father, mentor, and trusted advisor to many. His family remembers him as a hardworking man whose personal motto was, “No matter what, you work.” He believed in providing for his family through honest labor, leading by example, and treating others with kindness and respect. Above all else, he cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Moffitt (Becky); three daughters, Pamela Duke (Charles), Lisa Carter (Keith), and Amber Campbell (Billy); one brother, Randal Moffitt (Dana); two sisters, Annette Greenway (Claude) and Delores Jane Wood (John); fourteen grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin, Robbie, Lindsey, Kate, Emily, Maddie, Lillie, Elizabeth, Matthew, Blake, Bryan, Rachel, and Christian; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Andrew Moffitt; three brothers, John Neal Moffitt, Jimmy Andrew Moffitt, and Paul Sidney Moffitt; two grandchildren, Chloe Campbell and Isaiah Moffitt; and one great-grandchild, Kolbe Bomar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington with interment to follow in Lexington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m.
Samuel will be remembered for his unwavering faith, tireless work ethic, generous heart, quick wit, remarkable mind, and the love he poured into his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
