Samuel Uptain, age 86 of Corner, passed away on Friday August 15, 2025. He was born in Alabama on June 16, 1939 to the late Columbus and Nellie Uptain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Bernice Uptain; sons, Jay Uptain and Sam Eddy and by his brother, Larry Uptain. Sam loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in nature hunting and fishing. He retired from Birmingham Steel after many years of dedicated service. Sam was a faithful member of Sumiton First Baptist Church.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Lisa Pickle (Randall); son, Todd Eddy (Tammy); grandsons, Brett Pickle (Jennifer), Brandon Pickle (Shelby), Jason Pickle, Charlie Rawls (Gina), Cecil Eddy, and Mikey Eddy (Sabrina); granddaughter, Brianna Eddy; great-grandchildren, Carson, Addison, Jackson, Mason, Miles, Kane, Cora Beth, Hollis, Crue and Doc. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Carter (Bobbie).
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Samuel Uptain will be held on Tuesday August 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday. He will be laid to rest at Good Hope Cemetery.
