Ruth Jones Hochstetler, 96, of Decatur died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at River City Center. Ruth was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Morgan County to Acey Herman Long Sr. and Hollie Lee Avirett. She was the wife of the late Joe Thomas Jones Sr. and the late Nevin M. Hochstetler. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Helon Baugh Maples, Lois Dicks, Ruby Mae Johnson and Bettye Wallace.
She is survived by her son, Joe Thomas Jones Jr.; two grandsons, Joe Thomas Jones III (Dee Dee) and Michael Gardiner Jones (Rhee); three great-granddaughters, Emsley Peyton Jones, Caroline Olivia Jones and Bethany Paige Cronenberg; one great-great-granddaughter, Zora Jean Cronenberg and brother, Acey Herman “Bud” Long Jr.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the building fund at Central United Methodist Church, Decatur.
