Funeral service for Ruth Carter Lewis, 89, will be Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM at McKendree Methodist Church with Bro. Darrell Mosley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McKendree Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lewis passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at her residence. She was born September 6, 1936, in Morgan County, to William Warren Carter and Rosa Lee Buckelew Carter, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker for her family and was a longtime member of McKendree Church where she took a big part in Missions. She loved the farm and was a huge part of it. She enjoyed her garden and her flowers. Mrs. Lewis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was married to the love of her life, Billy, for 68 years.

Six Grandchildren – Amber Sutherlin, Emily Vines (Rusty), Sabrina Lewis, Olivia Lynn Lewis, Makenna Diane Lewis, Jacob Linderman.
Four Great Grandchildren – Sadie Sutherlin, Kaylee Suntherlin, Jasper and Landon Linderman.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lewis, Rusty Vines,Tim Laney, Jacob Linderman, Jasper Linderman, and Landon Linderman.
