Ruby Shelton Fite – Obituary

Funeral for Ruby Shelton Fite, 89, of Decatur will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Russell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Fite, who died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born February 12, 1924, in Lincoln, County, Tenn., to Almer and Bertha Shelton. She worked at a hosiery mill making parachutes during World War II. She was a homemaker who enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. Mrs. Fite was a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ for 60 years. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Loyd Fite (May 8, 1981); her parents; brothers, Virgil Shelton and Charles Shelton; and sister, Louise Land.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Allen Fite (Jennifer) of Decatur and Larry Charles Fite (Karen) of Falkville; three sisters-in-law, Annie Ruth Pickens of Nashville, Tenn., Gwendell Frazier of Chesapeake, Va., and Marjorie Shelton of Fairhope; three grandchildren, Michael Allen Fite Jr., Benjamin Davidson Fite and Jeremy Lloyd Fite; three great-grandchildren, Noah Fortner, Oliver Fite and Elijah Fite.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Somerville Road or Falkville Church of Christ.
