Funeral service for Jantzen Murrell Frazier, 28, of Falkville will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Chaplain James Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church from noon until service time. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.
Jantzen died in the line of duty on Thursday, October 17, 2013. He was born April 9, 1985, in Decatur to Murrell Frazier and Debbie Blackwood Frazier. He was a graduate of Hartselle High School with the class of 2003. He went into the U.S. Army two weeks after graduating and finished his A.I.T. training in Mechanics. He was sent to Iraq for his first tour. After he finished there, he was stationed in Germany then Fort Hood, Texas. While there, he met and married his loving wife, Leslie. One month after their marriage, he was sent to Iraq again. At this time, he had been through Sniper and Ranger school. While in Iraq he received five Purple Hearts.
Jantzen was honorably discharged from the Army in May of 2011. He moved back to Hartselle, where he made his home. He and his family had just recently moved to the Oden Ridge community and immediately joined the Oden Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his loving wife of seven years, Leslie Frazier;
four daughters, Arianna Frazier, Coral Frazier,
Aubrey Frazier and Shelby Frazier, all of Falkville; his parents, Murrell and Debbie Blackwood Frazier of Hartselle; father-in-law, Michael Suckstorff; sister-in-law, Megan Suckstorff; and his grandmothers, Margret Higginbotham and Betty Blackwood.
Pallbearers will be fellow Soldiers and members of the Fire Department.
