Ruby Nell Pettigrew Carr, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Bartlett, TN. A Lee County native, she was born on December 12, 1943, to the late Clifford Pettigrew, longtime Lee County Supervisor, and Lee Earl Roberts Pettigrew. She treasured living on the family farm, which has been in the family for 6 generations. After graduating Tupelo High School, she became a master cosmetologist and was a staple with Jennie Lynn Cayson Johnson’s Salon for over 4 decades. A lifelong faithful member of Bissell Baptist Church, Ruby was the widow of James William ”Billy” Carr, a lifelong farmer who died October 21, 2011. Ruby was dedicated to her faith, sharing it with others through her good deeds and willingness to help. She loved good conversation with family and friends, never met a stranger, and shared her caring nature with everyone she could her whole life. She was proud of her family heritage and loved everything “Bissell”.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Carr Kelly, her two grandsons William Blake Roberson and Carson Lee Roberson of Munford, TN, and numerous extended family members.

A service celebrating her life will take place at 2 PM Monday, July 21, 2025 at Bissell Baptist Church with her pastors, Brothers Tommy Winders and Todd Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 PM at the church.
