Jewel worked as a seamstress for forty plus years and retired from Genesco/Tee Jays Manufactory. Her hobbies were reading, crocheting, cooking sweets, playing checkers and domino’s. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, family and friends, singing church songs with her brother. She was always so much fun and had numerous saying and her favorite was “Love you Bushel and a Peck and Hug around the neck”.

She had the most amazing brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Clara Melton, Special nieces, Janine Holly, Amanda Stansell, and special nephew, Paul Melton. Thanks to you all for always being here for us during the difficult days.

She was a member of Faith Church (Faith Tabernacle) for over 90 plus years. She loved her church and went on many senior trips.

Heaven has gained a special angel today. Our mom was the most amazing person, and she never complained about life. She taught us amazing work ethics, was our provider, friend and go to for anything. She raised five children and still had positive attitude and loved everyone and they loved her. She went on a trip to Florida and on the airplane, she met a sweet friend. The lady called her several times to just talk and once came to see her. She loved being in the sun and floating in the pool even in her nineties, attending ball games of her grand and great-grandchildren’s games. Her life was not always easy, but she handled everything with a can-do attitude. Our best lesson from her was to love Jesus and trust in him.

Proverbs 3:15 “She is more precious than jewels and nothing you desire can compare to her”

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their compassion during this difficult time, especially Brittney Burchfield RN, Daney Rodriguez, and Stevan Saucer RN for their love and care.
