Royce Wayland Benefield, age 66 of Haleyville, Alabama passed away November 29, 2021 at his residence. He served in the United States Army, President of Hughes Trading Group, a member of Haleyville City School Board (1996 – 2008), a member of Haleyville City Council (2008 – 2020), Lakeland Community Hospital Board member and a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday, December 3, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville, Alabama. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Lance Hogan officiating and Mary Kathryn Waters giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Benefield is survived by his wife, Joanne Hughes Benefield; daughter, Mary Kathryn Waters & her husband, Peyton Waters III; siblings, Rebecca Benefield Dobbs, Sandy Benefield Conville, Shirley Benefield Kilpatrick and Ricky Benefield; and grandson, Peyton Donald Waters, IV.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Noveline Benefield.
