Mr. Bass passed away Wednesday night at Baptist Hospital in Collierville, TN.

A native of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late Lee Roy Bass and Bernice L. Kirk Bass of Middleton, who survives. He had lived in Rossville since 1994.

He was a graduate of Middleton High School Class of 1972 and had worked at MAHLE Corporation for 29 years serving as an automotive parts storage coordinator. On Friday, November 10, 2017, he married the former Dennie Garrison Cargile. Together, they spent a total of 25 years as a couple.

In his leisure time, Mr. Bass enjoyed mowing his lawn, gardening, playing the drums, motorcycles, Corvettes, rock music (especially Lynyrd Skynyrd) and watching episodes of “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Mama’s Family.” His #1 favorite pastime, however, was giving people their own special “nickname.”

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Bryan Lee Bass of Freeport, IL; his sister, Norma Sue (Buddy) Vickers of Middleton; step-children, Charles Andrew (Jessica) Cargile of Spring City, TN and Amanda Cargile Hughes of Oak Ridge, TN; and 8 step-grandchildren.
