Ronald George Smith, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 67 in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on December 7, 1958, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, Ronald’s life was one of dedication, love, and enduring kindness.
Ronald was the beloved son of the late George Bernard and Iva Lois Self Collins and was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Louis H. Collins, his son, Matthew Smith, and his paternal grandmother, Lillie Belle Self.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Katrina Wise Smith, with whom he shared countless memories and a life full of love. Ronald’s legacy continues through his three children, Nikki Oleszko (Mike), Josh Smith (Skye), and Kelly Blackmon (Edgar), who will forever cherish the wisdom and warmth he imparted. His four siblings, Rick Smith (Wilma), Cynthia Smith, Hunter Smith (Erin), and Ray John Smith (Mary Pat), will miss his guidance and companionship.
Ronald’s joy was multiplied through his thirteen grandchildren, Jordan Meyer, Emma Oleszko, Sophia Oleszko, Edgar Blackmon, Virginia Blackmon, Addison Smith, Ryne Smith, Dechlan Smith, Oliver Smith, Sawyer Smith, Griffin Smith, Ava Littlejohn, and Adi Littlejohn, and three great-grandchildren, Peyton Meyer, Owen Meyer, and Madelyn Meyer, who brought him immeasurable happiness. His father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary King, will remember Ronald as a son who brought light and love into their family.
Ronald’s life was also enriched by his beloved animals, Kooper, Marty, Phynn, Pearl, Johnny Cash, and Grey Bird, who were his constant companions and brought him joy every day.
Professionally, Ronald retired from Hines Lumber Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and amiable nature. His colleagues will remember him as a man who was not only dedicated to his work but also to the people around him. Ronald’s faith was an integral part of his life, and he attended Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
