Ronald Dean Henson, 65, of Decatur, passed away on November 22, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove First Congregational Methodist Church in Trinity, with Reverend Shane Williams and Reverend Mark Owens officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Mr. Henson was born March 4, 1949, in Decatur to Frank and Edna Henson. Ronald began his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff for Morgan County. He was promoted to Sergeant and then to Chief Deputy. After leaving the Sheriff’s office, he worked in security at TVA Brown’s Ferry. He later joined the TVA Police at Guntersville Dam, where he retired as Lieutenant in 2008 after 38 years of service.
Ronald was a member of Oak Grove FCM Church, where he attended for 42 years. He served as part of the security team that he helped to create.
Ronald loved to go camping and fish. He spent countless hours on the river with his family doing what he loved. He also liked hunting with his friends. He enjoyed Alabama football and loved spending time with his grandkids. He always worked hard to provide for his family whom he loved very much. Mr. Henson was preceded in death by his father, Frank Henson.
Mr. Henson is survived by his wife of 42 years, Belinda Henson; daughters, Brandi Childers (Lynn) and Juli Henson, both of Decatur; mother, Edna Henson; grandchildren, Kaylee Childers, Makena Childers, Lila Childers, Owen Childers, Alaina Childers, Boston Childers, Connor Sivley, and Madilyn Kate Henson Foster.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Phillips, J.R. White, Ray Latham, Roger Owens, Ronald Owens, Mike Briscoe, Bobby Speegle Jr., and Mike Anders.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Willis and Jackie Parcus.
