F.1.24.24 Roland Stanley.jpg  Roland Blake Stanley, Sr., 90, Muscle Shoals made his transition from Earth to his home with Jesus Christ in heaven at 3:00 a.m. January 21, 2024.

He was born in 1933 to Woodrow and Annie Laura Stanley of Tuscumbia, AL. He was a beloved dad and “granddaddy” to his family and loved by many other family and friends. He spent his life taking care of his family and serving others. He was always ready and willing with a smile to enjoy whatever project was put before him. He loved being outside and working in his yard and garden. We called him our “energizer bunny” because he was always busy tinkering or working on something.

Roland was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelba. He is survived by sons, Roland, Jr. “Butch” Stanley and wife Lynn of Decatur, Marty Stanley and wife Gwen of Greenhill; grandchildren, Rachael, Adam, Matthew and wife Amanda, Marcus and wife Sibyl; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Nolan, Max, and Sydney.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and he continued to serve in the American Legion, Korean War Vets organization in various ways throughout his life. He was a member of the local American Legion Color Guard. He was a graduate of Deshler High School, and he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Athens University. He served as a minister for more than 35 years and continued serving the church in other areas up until his passing.

There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service on Thursday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of love in his memory can be made to Tunnel to Towers Veteran’s Organization or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
