Mrs. Roberta Cannon Bevis, 84, of Florence, passed away at ECM Hospital on July 26, 2013. She was born in Lauderdale County and was a member of Central Heights United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. John Yeates.
Mrs. Bevis was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Bevis; parents, Sam and Elizabeth Cannon; and one brother, Lacy Cannon.
She is survived by a son, Robert D. Bevis (Sandra); daughter, Carolyne Bevis Peeden (Pete), both of Florence; grandchildren, Ashley Peeden Groff (Rick), of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Rebecca Bevis Moseley (Bob), of Auburn, Ala., Millicent Bevis, Florence, Gina Earl Vorce (Jeff), of Tampa, Fla., and Lindley Earl, Annapolis, Md.; great-grandchildren, Anna Caroline and Richard Braden Groff III, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Jackson and Rachel Moseley, of Auburn, Ala., Megan and Hollie Vorce, of Tampa, Fla., and Madison and Gavin Earl, of Annapolis, Md.
Mrs. Bevis is also survived by a large loving family, brother, Coy Rice Cannon; sisters, Virginia Cannon Brown (Wayne), Nina Cannon Rhodes (Howard), of Florence, Mary Cannon Olive (Jerry), of Berry, Anne Cannon McMillian (A.C.), of Fairfield, Conn., and Jean Cannon Phillips (Donny), of Florence; many very loving and supportive nieces and nephews. In fact, she was known as “Aunt Bert” to everyone.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Rhodes, Scott Hamner, Tommy Mills, Bart Cannon, Jim Frisbie and Mark Booker.
