Robert L Morris, age 84, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was a native of Obion, TN, formerly employed at Gould National Battery in Memphis, TN, co-owner of Big John’s BBQ with his father, John L Morris, from 1968 to 2001, and a realtor for RE/MAX. Mr. Morris served as a former elder and deacon in the Churches of Christ and was a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ. One of his greatest passions was his mission work in India. Mr. Morris spent over 50 years teaching and helping establish many congregations and preaching schools, with his last trip being in 2023. He leaves behind many friends among the people of India.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L and Berniece Puckett Morris.
He is survived by the love of his life of 65 years, Carolyn Holt Morris of Lawrenceburg, TN; four daughters who loved him dearly, but who also take full responsibility for his headful of beautiful white hair, Anita Geoffrion (Bryon) of Knoxville, TN, Debbie McClaren (Tommy) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Tina Pugh (Jimmy) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Stacey Morris of Lawrenceburg, TN; eleven grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jason Smith, Brandy Warren (Ray), Karley Mills (Jarrod), Hamilton Hubbard, Amy Case (Tommy), Eric McClaren (Mandy), Paige Caperton (Trenton), Lindsay Gowen (Matthew), Jacob Pugh (Margo), Braxton Harris, and Chazley Harris (Jay); nineteen great-grandchildren who held a special place in his heart, Hannah, Lillian, Elliott, Alexa (Brayden), AnnaLee, Tallan, Weston, Cooper, Knox, Grayson, Walker, Tristan, Emrey, Remi, Wesson, Kimber, Juliette, Stella, and Westley; three sisters, Linda Hensley (Jim), Joyce Irwin (Don), and Diane Farr; one brother, Rickey Morris (Connie); several nieces; nephews; and too many friends to name because he never met a stranger.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2026, with Jacob Evans, Leon Smith, and Willie Hamblen officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.
