Robert Hill – Obituary

BobUSAF LTC Robert Hill (Ret.), 93, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Tuesday. He was born in Omaha, NE and was raised in Council Bluffs, IA. Following his brother into the service, Bob left college to enlist in the Air Force for flight school at the age of 19. He served his country in WWII, was stationed in England, and retired in 1964 after 22 years of service in several locations.
Bob and his family retired to Huntsville, AL where he worked with GE. He got a second degree from UAH during those early years. He retired at the age of 70 from USBI United Technologies.
He was a tennis player and an avid golfer for many years. Bob was a quiet man who lived a peaceful and content life in his retirement. He enjoyed reading, history documentaries and his home life, especially viewing the lake from his home in Eastern Shore in the last years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sennie Hill, brother, Chet Hill, and grandson, Alex Hill Horton.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hill; daughter, Laura Holdiness (Phil); daughter, Rebecca Horton; grandchildren, Ashley and Chelsey Horton; and great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Horton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at Southwood Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will follow at 4 at the church with Will Spink officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, or a military organization that serves our heroes.
