Robert “Everett” Bailey, 81, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in Athens, Alabama. “Everett” was born Wednesday, October 1, 1941 in Limestone County, Alabama to Edward Benton Bailey and Frances B. Bratcher Bailey.
“Everett” was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a truck driver for many years where he was fondly known as “Beetle Bailey”. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and a valued supporter of the Ardmore Veterans Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jim Bailey and infant brother; along with his infant grandson, Lance Everett Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Bailey of Ardmore, AL; sons, Ronald Keith (Jacqueline) Bailey of Priceville, AL and Bruce Anthony (Tina) Bailey of Washington, GA; daughters, Kimberley Bailey (J.C.) Neff of Terre Haute, IN and Kelli Bailey (Kevin) FitzGerald of Athens, AL; brothers, William (Mary) Bailey of Columbus, IN and Randy (Fina) Bailey of Lincoln, AL; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Visitation being held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a Chapel Service immediately following with Rev. J.C. Neff, Rev. Kimberley Neff and Rev. Adam Mickel officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Noah Pate, Zack Pate, Jason Smith, Raymond Fogg, Andy Vest, and Cloyd Haney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Mitchell, Howard Faulkner, Bill Elkins and Haskel Mealer.
