Richard E. Caldwell, 79, passed away October 11, 2023, in Thaxton, MS. Mr. Caldwell was born on August 13, 1944, in Caldwell Parish, LA to Buford and Myra Caldwell. After graduating from University High School in Oxford, MS in 1962, he joined the United States Army, serving in Glenhausen, Germany, from 1962-1965. After an honorable discharge, he met and married Genell Brummett Caldwell and went to barber college in Jackson, MS. He worked for many years as a barber, and also had his own business in heating and air conditioning repair, which he retired from in 2009.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife, Genell, daughter, Lorrie Caldwell Boyd (Stephen), son, Ricky Caldwell (Dianna), nine grandchildren, Erin Ward (Patrick), John Hoggard (Bethany), Brittany Taylor (Madison), Mitch Grizzle (Amber), Jenny Caldwell, Emily Bryant (Dominic), Chris Carter (Kara), Katie Carter, and Peyton Hurt, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister, Rebecca Caldwell Siddon (Pete), two nephews, Keith Caldwell and Eric Caldwell, and three nieces, Sherry Caldwell Hoyland, Amy Siddon, and Jody Siddon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Cameron and Myra Louise Arduengo Caldwell, and his brother, Buford Leo Caldwell.
Services will be Saturday, October 14,2023, at 1PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Visitation will begin at 11AM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Thaxton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Hoggard, Mitch Grizzle, Chris Carter, Dominic Bryant, Patrick Ward, and Landon Ward.
