Retha Nell Hoagland Greathouse, age 77, of Dora, AL passed away peacefully September 25, 2019. Retha was a cheerleader and graduated from Dora High School in 1960. She was an educator at Bagley School where she taught 5th and 6th grade until her retirement in the early 90’s. Retha was a member of Sumiton Church of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Retha enjoyed traveling to the beach with as well as travel with her sister-in-law, Billie Jean Hogland and friends, Nancy Cosper and Lois Pope. Retha is preceded in death by her parents, John “Julie” Hoagland and Bessie “Hoagie” Watson Hoagland; husband, Hudson “Hut” Greathouse, Jr.; son, Keith “Randy” Randall Greathouse; brothers Robert Hoagland, Lavaughn Hogland, Dennis Hoagland; and sister Peggy (Harlon) Godfrey. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Greathouse (Kevin) Roach, son, Chad Greathouse, brother, Terry (Sharon) Hoagland; sisters-in law Adell Hoagland and Billie Jean Hogland; grandchildren Ashlyn Roach (Justin) Blevins, Austin Roach, Spencer Greathouse; great-grandchildren; Kentson Blevins and Laura Chandler Blevins, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Pastor Victor Massey and Reverend Rev. Ronald Hogland officiating. Visitation from 10am-12pm, funeral service beginning at 12pm. Burial will follow a New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
