Reginald Howard “Buddy” Barbee, age 77, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 28, 2024 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama. Graveside Services will be Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Barbee was born on October 11, 1947, in Decatur, Alabama. He graduated in the Class of ’66 from Decatur High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force for two years. Then joined the United States Army to honor his country with 33 plus years of active service until he retired from the military. He served during Vietnam; the Gulf War; Special Forces; Operation Desert Shield; and the Iraq War, while stationed at Fort Benning; as well as a Veterans Affairs Officer for the State of Alabama.
Mr. Barbee was a loving husband, dad, brother, granddad, great-granddad, and friend… He was “Buddy” to everyone! His kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Although we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones in the embrace of eternal peace.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney R. and Joyce Putman Barbee; and his brother, Michael R. Barbee.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Teresa Shelton Barbee; two children, Christopher Barbee (Shay) and Meaghan Barbee Thrasher (Clint); two brothers, Tim Barbee (Kathy) and David Barbee (Karen); six cherished grandchildren, Hayden Barbee (Casey Hughes), Meagan Barbee, Brandon Barbee, Cydney Barbee, Ayallah Thrasher, and Adylinn Thrasher; seven precious great-grandchildren, Fischer Barbee, Daivyn Hughes, Zeppelin Hughes, Georgia Barbee, Rose Barbee, Lucy Barbee, and Bentley Barbee; a host of nieces and nephews; along with his three lovable fur-babies, Tipton, Beau, and Cookie.
Shelton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
