TUSCALOOSA-Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Elizabeth C. Hamner sealed the records pertaining to the divorce of Governor Robert Bentley and First Lady Dianne Bentley on Monday, August 31 a deposition in the divorce proceedings has been set for November 20.

This action was taken after both parties filed a motion to have the records sealed.  The estranged wife of Governor Bentley filed for divorce on Friday, August 28 for reasons of incompatibility.

The Bentleys have been married for 50 years and have four sons and eight grandchildren.

Late Friday the Governors press office released this statement:

“The Governor asks that you please respect the privacy of the Bentley family during this difficult time,” the statement read. “There will be no further comment.”
