Rebecca J. Howard, affectionately known as “Becky,” passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026 at the age of 72.
Becky was born October 8, 1953, in Sardis, Tennessee, to the late James Davie Mooney and Graple Lillian Allen Mooney. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a travel registered nurse, a calling that reflected her compassionate heart and quiet strength. Through her work and her daily life, Becky touched many lives with kindness, patience, and genuine concern for those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn Barker, Mary Lou Miller, and Georgia Tate.
She is lovingly remembered by her three brothers, Lowell Mooney (Loretta), Noel Mooney (Wanda), and David Mooney (Brenda); and three sisters, Marlene Brown, Sandra Mooney, and Cheryl Moody (Dennis), along with a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery.
Becky will be remembered for her caring spirit, gentle nature, and the love she shared so freely with family, friends, and all those entrusted to her care. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
