Raymond John “Duke” Gardner, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on November 21, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona, Duke was a man of passion and love, always making sure those around him knew how much he cared.
Duke is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Lisa Gardner; his loving daughters, Brittany and Tiffany Gardner; his stepchildren, Taylor Tillbrook and Kassie Phillips; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Piper, Lillian, Selena, and Atreas; his supportive brothers, Robert and Bret Gardner; and his adored fur babies, Nova, Creed, and Heathen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sylvia Moran Gardner, and his sister, Barbara Gardner.
Duke spent many years working as a Produce Clerk at Publix, where he was known for his hard work, dedication, and friendly demeanor. His commitment to his job and the relationships he built with his coworkers and customers were a testament to his loving and passionate nature.
Throughout his life, Duke pursued a variety of interests and hobbies. He had a deep love for polishing rocks, a craft that allowed him to appreciate the beauty in the natural world. He was an avid reader, always eager to learn and expand his knowledge. Duke also enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hiking through the beautiful landscapes of Arizona and Alabama or exploring the depths of caves through his passion for spelunking.
Duke’s enthusiasm for life extended to his love of sports, particularly his unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys. As a passionate fan, he never missed a game and was always eager to discuss the team’s latest triumphs and challenges with fellow fans.
Above all, Duke was a loving and passionate man who made sure those around him knew how much he cared. His warmth and affection were felt by everyone he met, and his genuine interest in the lives of others made him a cherished friend and confidant to many.
