Raeford Joe Murray, 66, Hackleburg (formerly of Russellville), passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was the manager of Russellville Water Department for many years. He loved to fish, and was a good friend to everyone who knew him.
The visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Dennis Steward officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Murray; step-children, Andrew Lindsey (wife, Tara), Jennifer Wooten (husband, Adam); Noah Shifflett; grandchild, Riley Lindsey; niece, Sheila Murray; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amanda Murray; parents, Edward & Versie Lee Murray; and brother, Odell Murray.
The pallbearers will be Andrew Lindsey, Adam Wooten, Tommy Allen, Mike Jemison, Adam Anglin, Randy Wiggins, and Keith Arnett. The honorary pallbearers will be George Humphries, Noah Shifflett, and Russellville Water Department Employees.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ashely Burchell and the staff of Hospice of North Alabama for your love and care. Also a special thanks to the many friends who has called, prayed or visited with Joe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, 104 S. Poplar Street, Florence, AL 35630.
