Police say they were selling the car for scrap… Florence men arrested…

FLORENCE – Two Florence men, Daniel Lanier, 31 and Conley Smith, 44 are being held at the Florence/Lauderdale Detention Center today, accused of stealing a vehicle.

Here is the full police statement:

“Vehicle Theft Leads to Arrests: Daniel R. Lanier, 31, and Conley J. Smith, III, 44, both of Florence, were arrested late Tuesday following a vehicle theft in East Florence. The two are accused of stealing a vehicle from the 200 block of Ironside St. and selling the vehicle for scrap. The vehicle was later recovered at a scrap yard in Tennessee. Both are charged with Theft of Property 1st and are currently being held in the LCDC.”
