Graveside services for Mr. Phillip Wayne Arnell, age 72 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope West Baptist Church with Rev. Billy East and Rev. Donald Spradlin officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that anyone who plans to attend the services, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Mr. Arnell passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at UAB Hospital. Born in St. Louis, MO; he moved to California where he graduated from Nogales High school with the class of 1966. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After serving, he moved to Alabama where he attended Jacksonville State University and worked as a Land Surveyor for most of his life. Mr. Arnell enjoyed woodworking, attending auctions, camping and anything outdoors. If he wasn’t watching football or old Kung-Fu movies, he was outside working. He loved his fur babies Gracie, Sassy, Lady and especially Charlie. Mr. Arnell was a brutally honest man, but always there when you needed him. You never had to wonder what he was thinking, because he would tell you. But he had a loving and caring heart for anyone that needed it. He was a member of the Alabama Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Arnell of Lineville, three daughters: Cindy King (Kevin) of Gulf Shores, Jennifer Ledbetter (Chris) of Anniston and Dana Dunn (John) of Montgomery, his son, Darrin Arnell (Tammy) of Millbrook, his sister, Carol Hall of Bullhead City, AZ, two brothers: Danny Arnell of Indianapolis, IN and Mark Arnell of Ft. Worth, TX, nine grandchildren: Taylor McNeely (Jennifer), Logan McNeely, Timothy Arnell, Casey Arnell, Hunter Pointer (Savannah), Ashley Pointer, Alex Ledbetter, Diamond Ledbetter and Richard Logeman, four great-grandchildren: Salem McNeely, Paisleigh Pointer, Brycyn and Alexia Folds, a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucille Arnell, his daughter, Nadine Arnell, two sisters: Billie and Anne, and his brother, Michael Arnell.
Mr. Arnell’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
