Mr. Phil Birgans was born November 9, 1923 to the late Tom and Emma Birgans. He confessed a hope in Chrit at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Usher board and Trustee board. He departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2014.
He was preceded in death by five siblings and three sons. Siblings: Jophelia Birgans, Tom Birgans Jr., J.B. Birgans Sr., Percell Harris and James Birgans. Sons: Eddie Birgans, Dennis Birgans and John Henry Mason.
He leaves to cherish his memory nine daughters: Bertha Birgans, Chicago, IL, Christine Bowles, Louisville, KY, Mary Birgans, Enolia (Edward) Fields and Linda Birgans all of Chicago, IL. Teresa (Lennis) Glenn, Sarah Birgans both of Decatur, AL., Philamena (Curt) Warner, of Hartselle, AL. and Angela (Percy) Cal of Aberdeen,MD. Six sons: James Birgans, Curtis Birgans and Melvin Birgans all of Chicago, IL., Charles (Loretta) Jackson of Decatur, AL. Earl Fossis of Dennis TX. and Ray (Fredia) Scott of St. Louis, MO. Two sisters: Ida Birgan and Willadene Nash both of Hillsboro, AL., one brother: Frank (Kathleen) Burgin, Hillsboro, AL, a sister-in-law: Recordia Birgan of Decatur, AL, 55 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
