Late Sunday night Pencie Ann Metz Bledsoe loving and proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 77.
Pencie was born at Fort Bragg Army Base in 1940 to Col. Thomas M Metz and Alpha J Martin, having been raised in a military family she continued this trend by marrying a young soldier James H Bledsoe.
Although Pencie was small in stature she had a huge heart, was humble and kind. Having birthed 6 children, buried one, miscarried 2, she stood by her husband of 55 years and raised their 5 children while he served 32 years in the US Army.
After retirement Jim and Penny, on their way to Alabama stopped in Pulaski Tennessee. They found the area and a home to be just what they were looking for and settled down for the first time in their adult lives.
Penny was a petite woman who was feisty and stood tall, a woman who had her own mind, thoughts and beliefs but never hesitant in letting you share yours and who not only listened but heard what you had to say. She was someone you could talk to for hours and who picked up on things most wouldn’t even pay attention to. She made a lasting impact on those she met and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she impacted, she was like no other.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 1:00pm, followed by a service at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Hume officiating.
Pencie was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter Christina and her parents. She is survived by her daughters Teresa, Betsy and Laura and sons Jim and Tom; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, her sister Teresa and nieces Debbie, Katie, Jenny and Cindy. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Pencie Ann Metz Bledsoe.
