Peggy Hurst – Obituary

Peggy-Hurst-1470309734Peggy Hurst, age 80 of Tuscumbia, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at her residence. Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2016, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Howell Bigham and Ed White officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Peggy was a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She taught Sunday school at Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ for twenty-five years. She loved her family and loved to serve others. She always put others before herself and was a wonderful cook and used that gift to provide for others at times of need and times of celebration. She loved watching Alabama football and the Dallas Cowboys and was always happy, devoted and loved by everyone. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; Patsy and Augusta Bennett; brother, Charles “Buddy” Bennett; sister-in-law, Carolyn Calvert; and brothers-in-law, Jack Calvert and Jimmy Beadle.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years; Donald O. Hurst; daughters, Donna South (James), Tina Reid (Wesley); grandchildren, Amanda South Landers (Steven Cooper), Jim South (Mandy) Ashley Reid (Mike), Allison Reid, and Austin Reid; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Landers, Logan Landers, Ellie South, Reese South, Aubrey Reid; sisters, Betty Beadle, Connie Rhoden (Kenneth); brother, Eugene Bennett (Beverly); sister-in-law, Martha Bennett; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jim South, Austin Reid, Logan Landers, John Calvert, Kenneth Rhoden and Steven Cooper.

The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Josh Vacik, Pam Brittenal CRNP, Gentiva Hospice and Special friends Mattie, Whitney and Mona Melton.
