Peggy Hughes Peggy Allen Hughes, age 87, of Decatur, AL passed away peacefully in her home on June 2, 2024.

Born on March 25, 1937 ; her long journey to HEAVEN has ended in glory.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Alan Hughes and one daughter-in-law Kimberly Dawn Hughes of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; two grandsons Zachary Alan Hughes ofAshville, NC and Joshua Alan Hughes of Concord, Georgia; one granddaughter-in-law Abby Hughes, two great-grandsons,  Hayden Alan Hughes and Wyatt Thomas Alan Hughes, all from Concord, GA;  two brothers, Terry Wayne Allen and Windell B. Allen and sister-in-law Marie C. Allen all of Decatur, AL;  one sister, Regina Allen Smith of Eva, AL and she had  a host of  family members  that she  loved dearly.

Peggy was the daughter of the late B H Allen and Eva Allen.

She made her life and career in North Alabama; starting her career at Chemstrand /Monsanto Company and later became the first Alabama employee at Champion International Paper Company in Courtland, Al., where she retired after 30 years of dedicated and loyal service. She was a loyal friend to hundreds in the Champion family.

Peggy’s community involvement included being the first woman to be inducted into The Decatur, Alabama   Civitan International Club .

She  loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  and was an activemember of her church, River City Baptist.

Her viewing will take place at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am on Friday June 7, 2024          at  Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama with Rev Royce Teague officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the service.

A special thank you to Hospice of North Alabama for their loving care in her final days and the comfort they provided to her family.
