Pauline Matlock Gargis, age 85, of Muscle Shoals, died Thursday, December 20, 2012. She was laid to rest Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Gargis was a member of Ford City Baptist Church and was retired from ECM Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father Ovie D. Matlock, her mother, Mary Luella McClure Matlock; sisters, Lorene Smith, Clara Garrison and Bernice Borden; brothers, Charles Roy Matlock and Steve Larry Matlock. She was always a giver not a taker and took great pride in serving at the East Colbert Senior Center. She is survived by her son, John R. Gargis and wife Dorothy Skipworth Gargis; sisters, Betty Prince, Jean Brosseit and Marlene Potts; granddaughters, Wendy Gargis and Dana Gargis Simmons and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were, Charles Brosseit, James White, Noland Smith, Nicholas Smith, Milton Smith and Jake Simmons. The family expresses special thanks to the staff of Cypress Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation and to Dr. Felix Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Colbert Senior Center, 6221 River Road, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661.
