Paul Damon Byler – Obituary

Paul-Byler-1416850062, 76, of Huntsville, AL., passed away at home on Monday, November 24, 2014, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Paul was born in Melbourne, AR on July 16, 1938 to Elza Houston Byler and Emma Celestine Mankin.

He married Carol Snoddy in Huntsville on April 29 1967. They had been married for 47 years.

He operated Paul’s Auto Shop on Green Cove Road for 35 years. He enjoyed working on his and everyone’s cars. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved discussing their cars. He and his good friend, Charles Lovelady were avid racers.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Snoddy Byler,m of Huntsville; brother-in-law, Charles H. Snoddy and wife, Marsha of Huntsville ; son, Kendall G. Byler and wife, Ana of Huntsville, AL; and daughter, Ashley Byler Jackson and husband, Stephen of New York City; and 3 beloved grandchildren, Sean and Seth Byler of Huntsville, and Julian B. Jackson of New York City. He is also survived by his sisters, Dortha Sanders and Vela Martin of Melbourne, AR; sister, Treva Ann Grimshaw and husband, Greg, of Garland, TX; sister, Carla Amos and husband, Greg, of Bay St. Louis, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza Houston Byler and Emma Lavera Mankin of Melbourne, AR; a brother, Davie Lee Byler of AR, and a sister, Brenda Elaine Gifford of Dallas, TX.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Spry Funeral Home. A memorial of his Life will be held on Saturday, November 29, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville.
