Patsy Capps Pounders, 82, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Born on November 22, 1942 to John Franklin and Sallie Kate Lunsford in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She dedicated her life for being a school teacher, devout Christian, and pianist. She played alongside the Melody Masters and continued playing throughout her life at her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin and Sallie Kate Lunsford. Her first husband, George Capps, son, Chris Capps, second husband, Coy Pounders, sister, Margie Robinson, and brothers, Harold Lunsford, Joe Lunsford, and Steve Lunsford.
She is survived by her daughters, Sally Estes (Elwood Matson) and Sherrie Smith (Ralph) and son, Michael Pounders (Loretta). Her brother Bruce Lunsford (Carmel) and sister, Beverly Barrett (Michael). She had 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Special friends, Debra Atkins, Debbie Wilson, and Mary Hensley.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Collins Burke Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 with visitation for friends at 10:00 a.m., services to follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Walker Memory Gardens. There will be no graveside service. Matthew Wilson & Ralph Smith will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Estes, Brian Estes, Michael Smith, Andrew Smith, Joseph Blackwell, and Josh Pounders.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Smith, Logan Smith, Nic Estes, Connor Estes, John Dyer Blackwell, Xander Smith, Carson Estes, and Josiah Blackwell.
