Patricia “Pat” Wing Srinivas – Obituary

A memorial service for Rev. Patricia “Pat” Wing Srinivas, age 84, of Decatur, will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with the Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, Bishop of Alabama, officiating.  The family will receive friends in the parish hall for one hour prior to service.

Pat died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  She was born July 11, 1929, in Decatur, GA to Morris and Minnie Wing.

After graduating from Wesleyan College in 1951, with an art history degree, she attended New York University where she met Kandala “Ken” Srinivas.  Pat and Ken were married in November, 1952.  After a short stay in England, Pat and Ken moved to India where their three children were born.  In 1965, they moved to Decatur, AL.  Pat worked for the Morgan County Health Department for many years.  After her youngest child graduated from high school, Pat attended the School of Theology at The University of the South in Sewanee, TN, where she earned her Master of Divinity degree.  In 1984, she was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama.  Pat worked for the North Central Alabama Mental Health Center for several years, serving as a pastoral counselor.  Pat’s children will always remember her passion for art, and treasure her paintings and pottery pieces.  Her beloved husband preceded her in death.

Pat is survived by two sons, Ravi Srinivas of Charleston, SC, and Pravin Srinivas of Madison, AL; one daughter, Nina Collum of Columbus, MS; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
