In early 1975, she met Gene Bohannan because she locked herself out of the house she was renting from Gene’s mom. Gene was washing his pickup when his mom brought the key outside and told him the situation. Gene said I’m washing my pickup, but his mom said her name is Pat, go let her in. They started dating shortly after. When Gene thought she was the one, he called one day and said we are going out the next day so get really dressed up. The next evening Gene took Pat to McDonalds in Clovis, they walked in and Gene told Pat you can order anything you want and for dessert I will even order you an apple or cherry turnover. Pat said OK. They sat at a corner booth and talked. After dinner, they went to the movies. Shortly after, Gene proposed at Hillcrest Park in Clovis and they were married October 2, 1975, at First Assembly of God. Gene worked for the Santa Fe railroad and transferred to Belen, New Mexico in 1988 till he retired in October 2012 and moved to Alabama in November of 2012.
