Funeral Services for Mrs. Ottilu Upchurch, age 84 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Upchurch passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at her home. Born in Lineville, she was a graduate of Lineville High School and attended Business College in Anniston. She worked for 15 years at Pruett’s Department Store in Ashland, until she became pregnant with her son. Following the birth of her children, she became a committed stay at home mom and pastor’s wife, following her husband wherever he would be led. Her husband, Charles Dwight, pastored at Perryville Baptist Church in New Site, and also traveled preaching revivals. Mrs. Upchurch enjoyed riding her 6 wheeler mule, cross stitching, and enjoyed going to yard sales with her daughter on Saturdays, then going to church on Sundays. She was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. She was known for writing down notes for anything, and had great penmanship. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Upchurch is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Dwight Upchurch; her son, Charles David Upchurch (Brittany); her daughter, Donna Upchurch, all of Ashland; four grandchildren: Derek Mastin, Tyler Mastin (Shaeley), Breana Railey (John Dylan), and Kayla Mastin; three great-grandchildren: Kaylen Mastin, Camryn Mastin, and Joh Coplen Railey; one sister, Annette Todd of Birmingham, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Ottis and Claudia Lou David McCain.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state at Liberty Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 14th from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
