Oscar Welborn Duke – Obituary

Oscar Welborn Duke, 89, a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away July 23, 2017 at ECM Hospital. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church; and was employed with Spry Funeral Home in Sheffield during high school. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and trained and worked as a surgical technician until his discharge. Mr. Duke was a 1952 graduate of Auburn University; owned and operated Excell Farm Supply in Cloverdale for 33 years; was a farmer and rancher in Cloverdale and Waterloo; and a cattle trader.

 

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Park.

 

Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his wife, Milka Seppenan Duke; father, Oscar Wyatt Duke; mother, Macie Beatrice Welborn Duke; and a brother, Jerry Lee Duke.

 

He is survived by his son, Wayne Duke; daughter-in-law, Frances Duke; grandson, Michael Duke (Laura); great-granddaughter, Shyann Millian Duke; great-grandson, Logan Michael Duke; brother, Warren Duke; sisters-in-law, Mildred Duke and Elizabeth Duke; and nieces and nephews.
