Gayle Hollingsworth Barley We say goodbye to Ora Gayle Hollingsworth Barley, known fondly as Gayle, who peacefully passed away on January 31st, 2024, after bravely facing dementia. Her family surrounded her, a reflection of the love she shared throughout her life.

Born on May 25th, 1953, to Albert Gordon Hollingsworth Sr. and Dorothy Aline Wall Hollingsworth in Butler, Alabama, Gayle leaves behind her son, Justin Shane Barley, and his wife Mandy, who brought her much joy, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Manda Claire Barley, and Aaron Michael Barley.

Gayle is survived by her brothers, Gordon Hollingsworth (Ginger) and Glen Hollingsworth (Janet). Ashley Hollingsworth Robertson (Brandon), like a daughter to Gayle, held a special place in her heart, as did her other nieces, great nieces, and great nephews.

After graduating from Morgan County High School in 1971, Gayle found fulfillment in her career at 3M as a material handler. Yet, her greatest happiness stemmed from time spent with loved ones, whether at the Senior Center or sharing meals with classmates. Gayle was a sweet soul who truly loved the people in her life.

The family extends gratitude to the caregivers at Summerford Health and Rehab and Hospice of North Alabama for their support during Gayle’s illness. Their compassion and dedication to Gayle’s care was truly amazing.

A visitation will be held at Peck Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3rd, from 12pm to 2pm, followed by a graveside service at Hartselle City Cemetery 2:30 PM, led by Minister Todd Barrier. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Project Lifesaver Fund, through the Sheriff’s Foundation, 119 Lee Street, Decatur, Alabama, 35601.

Pallbearers will be members of Morgan High School Class of 1971.

Though Gayle may no longer be with us, her memory lives on as a beacon of warmth and love that will forever endure in our hearts.
