opalOpal Thomas, 89, of Tuscumbia, Al., died March 16, 2015 at ECM hospital. She was born in Mississippi and finished school at Cherokee High School. She and her husband Walter, raised a daughter, Susan. She worked for Bell South for the next 25 years, but what she considered her most important work was her Christian ministry as one of Jehovah’s witnesses over a span of 62 years. As her health declined she continued with a group of her friends meeting weekly at her home, using the phone to spread the good news of God’s Kingdom. She was especially fond of sharing Revelation 21:4, the promise of a new heaven and a new earth, a time when the whole earth will be a safe, happy place for all who love and serve the Grand Creator, Jehovah God. Opal was able to continue that activity throughout her yearlong stay at Mitchell Hollingsworth. The folks there at Station 4 as well as those at ECM floors one and six, deserve special mention for their kind and patient care of our “Best Mom”. Thank you all including her extended family for your steady help and support.
