Opal Pearl Morgan Bridges – Obituary

Graveside service for Mrs. Opal Pearl Morgan Bridges, age 89, of Hartselle was Sunday, September 21, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Forrest Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Patsy Carlberg and Rev. Forrest Long officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing the service.

Mrs. Bridges, who was born on June 10, 1925, in Morgan County to Albert Morgan and Faynett Shaneyfelt Morgan, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at her home in the Forrest Chapel Community. Opal loved to travel and had visited every state in the United States. She retired from the Morgan County School System where she was a bus driver for 20 years. Opal was very instrumental in starting programs for handicapped children in the Hartselle School System and at Terrell Industries where their son Harley is employed. She was a faithful, active member of the Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church since 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a son; Gary Bridges.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Truman Bridges; two sons, Marty Bridges and his wife Elizabeth and Harley Bridges, all of Hartselle; a daughter-in-law, Pat Bridges of Hartselle; a sister, Wilna Hill of Decatur; and two granddaughters, Anna Bridges and Hannah Loy.

The members of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church served as her pallbearers.
