On Sunday morning, June 18, 2023, Opal Louise Woods Wilbanks, 77, resident of Walnut, passed away peacefully at St. Bernards Hospice in Jonesboro, AR.
Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Wilbanks will be at 11 AM Thursday, June 22 at Jesus Name Community Church with Bro. Gary Porterfiled and Br. Corey Porterfiled officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 9 PM Wednesday, June 21 and will continue from 9 AM until service time at Jesus Name Community Church. Burial will follow in the Community Pentecostal Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilbanks was born May 8, 1946 in Pocahontas, TN, the daughter of the late Ward and Louise Hodge Woods. She attended Walnut High School and on December 21, 1962, married her beloved husband, Edward Junior Wilbanks who preceded her in death. A seamstress in earlier years, Mrs. Wilbanks enjoyed working with her son in the produce stands in Corinth and Ripley during her later years.
A member of Jesus Name Community Church, Mrs. Wilbanks enjoyed the outdoors that included, mowing, tending to her beautiful flowers, watching Family Feud with Steve Harvey, Blue Grass music and trips to the Salvation Army. Blessed with a large family, she will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Those left to share memories include one daughter, Sheryl Kirkman (Steve), two sons, Jimmy Wilbanks (Angela) and Gerald Wilbanks, one sister, Dianne Woods and eighteen grandchildren, Joe, Jonathan, Josh, Justin, Heather, Chase, Matt, Ky, Adam, Dustin, Dalana, John Dalton, Stephanie, Cedric, Eden, Patrick, Amber, and Austin and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John Wilbanks and twin grandsons, Rusty and Dusty.
