Opal Irene Thomas, 94, of Hazel Green, Alabama passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014, at her home in Hazel Green, Alabama.
Born Friday, July 11, 1919 in Cullman, Alabama she was the daughter of the late William Lonnie Hopper and the late Lillie Mae Graves Hopper. She was preceded in death by husband, H.D. “Cowboy” Thomas; brothers, Robert and Edward Hopper; sister, Willie Mae Myrcle; son, Homer Thomas, daughters; Lynda Elledge and daughter-in-law Alice Faye Thomas; three grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in Madison County and was a member of Carters Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and quilting.
Surviving are sons, Lucky (Mary) Thomas of Harvest, AL; Steve (Barbara) Thomas of Maysville, AL; 19 Grandchildren, 51 Great Grandchildren, and 38 Great Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be Monday, February 10, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. up until service time at 11:00 A.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Terrel Boyd officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
