Olive (Libby) Ilene Jones, 95, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on September 11, 2020. Mrs. Jones was born in Petoskey, Michigan, on July 7, 1925. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Jones; sons, Larry A. Hosier and Stephen A. Speer; and stepson, Donnell C. Jones II.

Left to cherish her memory are son, David J. Speer; granddaughters, Diana G. (Kenneth) Gebben, Kristie L. Hosier (Jamal Benhamou), Sandra L. (Todd) Sagehorn, and Elaine M. Speer; grandsons, John A. Hosier and Thomas R. Hosier; great-grandchildren, including Alexandria L. (John) Thompson, Victoria A. (Brandon) Oliver, Jordan L. (Jessica) Austin, Colton T. Gebben, Abigail F. Austin, Sydney R. Thornton (Jonathan Yslas), Gwendolyn G. Austin, and Chloe H. Austin; great-great-grandchildren, including Trenton, Lillian, Klara, Olivia, Macie, Ellis, Farrah, Gibson, Henry, and Lana; close friends including Gina (Al) Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Libby worked in the retail and garment industry throughout her life and fondly remembers her many years with the JC Penney Company. Co-workers enjoyed her dedication and tremendous work ethic. Libby loved creating outfits for customers and seeing their delight at her knowledge of fashion and the style she brought to each one.

Libby was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville for 44 years and a treasured member of the Morning Glories group. She enjoyed attending the weekly gatherings to share news of the day and crafts at the Madison County Senior Center. Libby was an entrepreneur with businesses selling her own handcrafted jewelry, silver, and oil paintings. Designing and creating hundreds of items brought Libby so much joy through the years. Libby also enjoyed traveling with friends and cherished her photographs.

Visitation with family and friends for Mrs. Jones will be on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 1-3pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00pm in Valhalla’s Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church.
