Norman William Spear of Albertville, passed away October 28, 2018, at the age of 71. Mr. Spear was born on August 29, 1947. He was a 1965 graduate of Albertville High School and a 1970 graduate of Samford University School of Pharmacy. Mr. Spear owned and operated Albertville Discount Pharmacy for 30 Years. He served on the Marshall County Health Care Authority Board of Directors for 20 years, he also served as a board member for Hospice of Marshall County, now known as Shepherd’s Cove Hospice where he was recognized with the “Heart of Hospice” award. Mr. Spear was recognized with the “Spirit of Albertville” award by the Albertville Chamber of Commerce in 2012. He also served as a preceptor for the Auburn University School of Pharmacy for 20 years.
Mr. Spear was preceded in death by his parents, Truman William Spear and Mary Yarbrough Spear. He is Survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherrie Towers Spear; daughters, Lauren (Craig) Deerman, Claire (Paul) Joiner; grandchildren, Anna Claire Deerman, Charlotte Deerman, Davis Joiner, and Reid Joiner.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Albertville First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Albertville First United Methodist Church or Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
