Norman A. Plaisted, age 72 of Gurley, passed away on January 25,2017. Born to parents Richard L. Plaisted and Barbara M. Crimmins in Laconia, New Hampshire, he spent his childhood in Meredith, New Hampshire. He was a member of the cub scouts and he learned how to develop and print his own photographs when he was nine years old. He also demonstrated an interest in electricity and chemistry at an early age. The family moved to New Hampton, NH where he attended New Hampton Prep School. His expertise in electronics was used to build new broadcast equipment for the school’s radio station. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Army and earned the Army’s highest academic award at the Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. He spent his enlistment as an instructor on the Arsenal. After leaving the Army, he travelled extensively throughout the United States including hiking the Appalachian Trail. He then worked for Sound One Audio Recording Studio in New York City. He returned to Huntsville, AL and worked for Luna Tech company where he met his wife Suzanne Jackson. He then worked for many years and retired from Mock Electronics. He is preceded in death by wife Suzanne Plaisted. He is survived by his brother Robert L Plaisted and his wife Martha of Danbury, NH and his stepsons Eric Jackson (Patricia), Steve Jackson (Beth), Mark Jackson (Kelli), David Jackson, and two step grandchildren, Janie and Miller Jackson. Visitation will be hosted on Saturday, February 11, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at A Cup of Everything (upstairs) located at 103 Northside Square, Huntsville, 35801. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to 305 8th Street, a home for adults with disabilities. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
