Nolan E. Dorning, age 76 of Athens, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Dorning was born October 4, 1937 in Limestone County to Walter Dorning and Ruby Carroll Dorning. Services for Mr. Dorning are Monday, February 3, 2014 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Lynn Mitchell and Bro. Paul Clutts officiating. He was a Deacon at Concord Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener who loved to share his produce with friends and family. He retired from Tractor and Equipment Company after 44 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Retha Dedmon Dorning; daughters, Angela Raney and husband Bobby, Sonya Hutchinson and husband Ross, Cherlyn Clemons and husband Jerry and Michelle Dorning; grandchildren, Hannah Clemons, Kyle Hutchinson, Colleen Raney Harrison and husband Damon, Caroline Raney and Aubrey Hutchinson; step-granddaughter, Sara Stubbert; great-grandson, Eli Harrison; brother, Allen Dorning; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers are Mike Dorning, Danny Dorning, Doug Blakely, Troy Cottles, Barry Carroll, Jimmy Arnett and Harold Neely. Honorary pallbearers are Stanley Mitchell, Steve Powers, Jackie Lovell and the Coffee Pot round table.
